Equator pipe may be fitted directly to gas and oil fired boilers where the point of connection is more than 350mm above the burner and providing the connections are not inside the boiler casing or that the heat exchanger is not cast iron. When fitting Equator pipe work to solid fuel boilers or boilers with a cast iron heat exchanger the first 350mm of pipework should be metal, ie copper.

The conditions mentioned above are shown in figs 10 and 11.
